Rome First School

Lady Bug Room Welcome

Dear Preschool Friends,

Welcome to Rome First School for the 2011-2012 school year.  I am so excited to share your child with you in this great program.

I would like to take this time to introduce myself.  I have been married for 36 years to Randall Watkins.  He works at Southern Company.  We have two children, Amanda and William.  Amanda is an accountant with a local CPA firm.  William graduated from the University of Georgia and is now a Master Control operator at Fox T.V. in Myrtle Beach.  I taught preschool for six years before going to Elm Street Elementary, where I was a kindergarten paraprofessional for eleven years.  This will be my tenth year at Rome First School.

Susan Johnston will be my assistant.  Susan taught the two-year-old class two years ago.  Susan is married to Sam and they have three girls, Casey (14), Emily (7), and Ashley (5). Sam is the Deputy In Charge for the U.S. District Court Rome Division. Casey is a freshman at Rome High School. Emily is in second grade and Ashley is in kindergarten at East Central Elementary.

We will be creating wonderful memories for you and your child as we grow and learn together.  Please plan to attend Orientation on Thursday, August 11th at 10:00 am where you will receive information about our curriculum, class schedules, and volunteer opportunities.  Gina Loveman, our preschool director will conduct the orientation in the Wilder Center.  Please arrive a few minutes early and bring your child to the classroom to play during the meeting.  The Ladybug class is on the first floor, the first room on the right.  The first day of school is Monday, August 15th from 9:00 – 1:00.  Don’t forget to send lunch.

The city and county school systems work with us for speech and developmental delays.  Please let us know NOW if you have any concerns so that we can get things going for your child before school starts.  If there are any concerns during the school year, they are there for us.

Potty time is a big issue for a 3 year old.  We do like our children to come prepared.  Please work with your child this summer on this endeavor.  On the first day of school, please send extra clothes and shoes for accidents.

May God Bless You and Your Family!
