When: First full week of each month at 11:00 a.m. Community Kitchen serves free lunch weekdays at 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Parking for volunteers is available at North Rome Baptist (across the street). Rome FUMC is responsible for the first week of every month. When: One Saturday each month from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Foster parents cannot just leave their children with neighbors to run to the grocery store. Background checks, drug screens, and fingerprint IDs are required of everyone who watches foster children, regardless of personal familiarity with the children's guardians. Friends of Foster Families offers these families a much needed break from the unique demands of giving care in a foster setting. Games, crafts, recreation, and lunch are shared with the children, who are divided into age-appropriate groups. When: Monday nights at 6 p.m. NAMI is open to all idividuals with mental illness and their families and/or caretakers. NAMI Rome provides monthly educational meetings, peer support group, family support group, family education course (Family to Family), peer education course (Peer to Peer), annual picnic, and annual Christmas party. Minister in the Floyd County Jail. If you have a deep love for the Lord and a desire to see His people free, consider joining the other jail ministers on Tuesday or Thursday nights or Sunday mornings. You don't need to have any experience and we won't send you in alone. Come along as an observer or prayer warrior and see if the Holy Spirit doesn't give you a special word to share. When: Third Saturday each month Sign up to receive emails about upcoming Street Ministry events and join us as we share the Gospel on the streets. Take part in the Great Commission to spread the Gospel right here in your own hometown. No experience is necessary to share, simply a deep love and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ and a willingness that others would also know him. Rome FUMC co-sponsors a transitional house with Rome Action Ministries. Located in the Riverside community, the house provides shelter and support for a homeless family for up to two years. Our church family will help with our friendship, material and financial resources and our knowledge about making a household budget, saving money and making good life decisions. We are guided and assisted in our outreach by Michelle Corntassel who is the local transitional housing case manager.
