Please fill out a permission form here.

Affinity-Based Youth Ministry

We must involve teenagers in the life of the congregation.
We have to become passionate about inter-generational ministry.
We won’t succeed if we don’t offer belonging.

The entry point of belonging will now be affinity based small groups.
Groups will be based on common interests, activities, and questions.
Each group will be led by Parker, Hannah, or myself.
Each group will also have at least 1 additional church member who has an affiliation or passion for the area.
Youth can be a part of more than one group and are encourage to bring friends who are interested in the conversation and activity.

Please let Evan know which group(s) your youth hopes to attend as soon as possible!

Athletics Led by Hannah Parker
Sundays 3PM – 4:30PM

Being involved in sports or competition can bring on a lot of doubt and negative feelings. It could be from losing a game you prayed to win, getting injured, or feeling belittled by a coach or teammates. It becomes easy to question God and His intent for us when we work so hard and may not see the results we want. In this group, we will discuss how we can keep and grow in our faith while being competitive.

Outdoor Adventures Led by Parker Clavijo
Fridays 5PM – 6:30PM

The outdoor affinity group aims to show how surviving the challenges of the outdoors can translate to the survival of everyday life. Much preparation goes into ensuring survival and safety before adventuring, and one can better understand the preparations that must be taken daily in order to endure hardships.

Science and Faith Led by Evan McElreath
Sundays 5PM – 6:30PM

Are science and faith at odds with one another? Does the church teach something different than our schools? In this affinity group, we will explore the development of modern science in relation to theological constructs. The current debate/discussion concerning biblical teaching and contemporary science will be the underpinning of our time.

Deep Thoughts Led by Evan McElreath
WEDNESDAYS 5:30PM – 7PM

Why does the Bible contradict itself? Does God condone violence? Is it wrong to doubt God? The Fuller Youth Institute says “it's not doubt or hard questions that are toxic to faith, It's silence.” We will dive deep in search of honest dialogue about tough things that simply are not addressed.

New Sunday School Structure

A unified source of faith development. The one hour period will break down as follows:

10 – 10:10 General conversation

10:45 – 10:55 Highs and lows

Bi-monthly Capacity Building

Every other month we will have a “Big” unifying event. These will be traditional youth group activities such as lock-ins, field trips, game nights, etc.
