The Nursery Worker supports the ministry of Rome First UMC by creating and maintaining a safe and nurturing environment for young children.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversee the process for checking children in and out of the nursery on Sunday mornings and at special events.
Complete The United Methodist Church’s Safe Sanctuary training program every two years.
Providing age-appropriate care which includes feeding; changing diapers; escorting to the bathroom; holding or sitting with children; and interacting with children through games, stories, and play.
Be polite, friendly, and courteous to all children, parents, and volunteers.
Be in the nursery ready to greet families no later than 15 minutes prior to the 9 a.m. worship service. Stay until the children are secured with a responsible adult named on the child’s check-in form.
In the event of an emergency notify the parent immediately.
Straighten the room and clean any toys before leaving.
Submit any planned absences in writing to the nursery director at least two weeks in advance.
Notify the nursery director by telephone at least two hours in advance in the event of an unplanned absence.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in working with young children and families is a must.
Demonstrate God’s love in working with our children and families.
Must maintain calm and order in the event of an emergency.
